GIVING TUESDAY
Giving Tuesday Campaign
We are celebrating HEP's 25th anniversary. Starting now through #GivingTuesday, November 29, 2022, those who donate $25 or more to the HEP Foundation will receive a copy of "The Scholarly Gourmet," a cookbook HEP originally published for its 10th anniversary in 2007.
Alabama’s public universities provide the state with a total economic impact of more than $20 billion. And with an economic return ratio of 12.5–1, no measuring cup is required to see the benefit of higher education.
This cookbook serves up recipes and stories from students, faculty and alumni representing all 14 public higher education institutions in the state of Alabama. For example, UAB researcher and astronaut Larry DeLucas shares his out-of-this-world recipe for his Grandmother Stella’s Lamb Stew Couscous.
“[My wife] Kathy made my grandmother’s couscous for the Brazilian ambassador when he came to our house for dinner,” DeLucas said. “He loved it.”
DeLucas’ lamb stew couscous is just one of the many delicious concoctions on "The Scholarly Gourmet’s" menu, much like DeLucas is just one of the many individuals with intriguing stories highlighted in the publication.
HEP’s campaign coincides with #GivingTuesday, a global giving movement designed to counteract the spending holidays of Black Friday and Cyber Monday with a day dedicated to charitable donations. By giving to the HEP Foundation this #GivingTuesday, you can make a difference in the lives of student advocates who will continue the fight for public higher education in Alabama.
Help us celebrate our 25th anniversary and the positive impact of higher education by donating to HEP's Foundation.
