What does SLUAC stand for?
STARS (Student Teams Advocating Realistic Solutions) Leadership University Advocates Conference.
So, what does that mean?
Student and state leaders will come together to collaborate on ideas, learn about advocacy, and practice and apply skills they learn. This is an educational conference designed to equip student leaders with the knowledge about state issues related to higher education and the skills to make a difference in our state conversation about the value of higher education.
What time should I be where?
On the 7th you should arrive by 3 p.m. to check-in to your room at the front desk and head over to the conference registration on the 1st floor near the ballrooms/conference center (look for the HEP signs!). After that, head out to the beach to have your picture made with your leadership group! The first session begins at 4:00 p.m.
On Thursday, the 8th, and Friday, the 9th, breakfast starts at 7 a.m. in the ballroom on the first floor. The first session is at 8 a.m.
The conference will conclude by 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

What will we do?
You'll hear from a variety of speakers about key issues that are affecting higher education in the state of Alabama. You'll learn and practice organizational skills, public persuasive speaking, and personal advocacy through a variety of lectures, workshops, and synergistic discussions. All 14 public universities will collaborate to plan future activities and create lasting relationships that will work together for the future of Alabama.

Where is it?
The Conference is held at the Hilton Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort.

What should I wear?
Most people wear business casual to the conference.
Should I prepare anything?
Students eligible for 5-minute presentations should prepare their presentation material and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than August 3rd. Everyone should bring their calendar and best ideas to plan for the year!
How do I register/how much does it cost/can I be a speaker?

Thursday afternoon is free for you to relax and have some fun in the sun!
