FocusFirst is a collaboration between the Center of Ethics & Social Responsibility at the University of Alabama and Impact Alabama. Through this program, undergraduate and graduate students volunteer to ensure that children ages six months to five years in Head Starts and lower-income daycares are screened for vision problems and receive subsidized examination, diagnosis and treatment. Since its launch in 2004, 2300 student volunteers from 23 campuses in the state of Alabama have screened more than 175,000 children in all 67 counties of Alabama. To learn more click here.
